Make Your Own Portable Miter Saw Table

On the job site we set up our portable saw tables, which are more like work benches, on equally portable folding saw horses. Adding 2x6s to the tops of metal saw horses extends the load bearing surface and protects saw blades from contacting metal.

Step 1. These folding horses make a solid support for a miter saw table. <Step 2. Drive short 1 3/4-inch drywall screws through the bottom of the saw horses and into 2x6s to provide a good woodworking surface. FStep 3. Measure the base of the miter saw to determine the width of the saw table.
Step 4. Rip the plywood length-wise. Step 5. Cut the main table piece to the length of your pickup bed. Step 6. Cut matching length 2x4s and chamfer the ends.
Step 7. Glue the 2x4s to the plywood table surface. Step 8. Tack the 2x4s to the plywood table surface. Step 9. Screw the 2x4s to the plywood table surface.
Step 10. Measure the space between the two table supports and cut wing boards to fit underneath. Step 11. Rip a 2x4 for blocks and mount them on the table surface to support the wing boards. Step 12. The saw table provides a stable work surface for the miter saw. Any length of trim boards are well supported, and room for small pieces and marking tools is available under the wing boards.
