How To Tie On…

…A Quick-N-Easy Texas-Rig

There are many ways to secure a fishing hook to a line. Some are variations on a theme which work well for many applications, and some are designed for use with specific terminal tackle or fishing techniques. Here we’ll show you a basic knot that can be used for just about any terminal tackle, and illustrate how you cook up a Texas-Rig for plastic worm fishing—arguably the best and certainly most popular way to rig a plastic worm for bass angling. We don’t know what the name of the knot is, but we’ve used it for many years with great success. Let’s call it the Heartland USA Special. If you want to expand your knot-tying skills, we recommend visiting NetKnots.com for details and cool animations on how to tie most of the more common fishing knots.

Slide a bullet weight point-first up the end of the line. Loop the line through the hook eye. Fold the line to make a loop as shown.
While gripping the line with one hand, loop the tag end of the line through the loop. Do this four or five times. When finished making the loops, the knot should look like this. Hold the tag end and the main line in one hand and the hook in the other.
Pull evenly to tighten the knot. Slip the knot down to the hook eye and pull tight to set the knot. Clip the tag end.
Thread the hook into the head of the worm about 3/8- to 1/2-inch before pushing the barb out. Run the worm head up to the hook eye and rotate the worm 180 degrees on the hook shank, then insert the barb end into the worm body so that the worm is positioned straight on the hook. …An Improved Clinch Knot

Loop the end of the line through the hook eye. Twist the hook five to seven times to put a twist in the line. Loop the tag end through the twisted line directly above the hook eye
Now bring the tag end through the large tag end loop (coming off the top of the twist). Pull to form the knot. Pull to tighten the knot. As you pull the knot will cinch onto intelf at the hook eye.
Tighten to set the knot and clip the tag end.
